ASAC
The Alcohol Substance Abuse Counselor is provided to the school to help students with substance abuse problems. One reason why they are such a big help to the students is that they are able to fully trust the counselor to maintain confidentiality.
Project Learn
In conjunction with the community center, tutors are available in the Information Center at the school Monday and Wednesday from 2:45 to 4:45 through out the school year. Parents can register their son or daughter through the main office.
Guest Speaker
Guest speakers are those who come to talk to students about a wide range of topics like their profession, hobbies, activities, as well as other areas of interest.
School Advisory Committee (SAC)
With the Department of Defense Dependents Schools there are several committees that allow parents, students and professional employees to review school matters. Locally, the School Advisory Committee (SAC) advises the principal and the parents on many facets of our school's operation. The committee is elected every year, and meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month. All school community members are welcome to attend and participate in these meetings.
Parent-Teacher-Student Organization (PTSA)
The PTSA is an organization of parents, teachers, and students who are interested in working together to enrich and support elementary, middle and high school activities and programs. Look for PTSA announcements regarding meetings and upcoming events in the AMS monthly newsletter.
Parent Involvement
The positive and consistent School/Home/Community partnership provides a safe and wholesome environment for our students to learn and achieve. It is recognized that parents are the first and most influential teachers of their children. It is through parents' involvement that children develop the value of learning and working, the importance of relationships and constructive use of leisure time.
Volunteers
Parental involvement and participation at Aviano Middle School is an understood, necessary and expected partnership. Volunteer opportunities can be explored through your child's teacher, the school office, PTSO, and SAC committee.
Volunteers must be first screened with security clearance paperwork that is available at the school. Please stop into the office at any time to learn more.
